I've been playing the game for 10 days now. The environment and whole feel of the game is wonderful. People are generally helpful, and the game has an open-endedness I've never seen before in an MMORPG. However, I'm a bit frustrated.
I see this great game before me, but I'm not sure how to REALLY get going. I have certain interests, those that encircle things like covert-ops, spying (not necessarily good or evil), research and tech, things were a character would use their brain versus their brawn. I greatly enjoy playing characters like that (rougues and swashbuckler types), but where do I truly begin?
I've read through the Player Guide, and that a some good general tutorials and tips, but there is so much missing. As a covert-ops type player, what can I do? Can I truly spy on people? In a fight, can I use scanners and jammers to avoid or escape a fight intead of fighting my way out? Is there any real covert use for cloaking and sneaking around other than just trying to keep yourself alive in low security zones?
How about Research? I honestly don't know where to start. I get that you research blueprints to improve them, but where do you get the base blueprints? Are those what I see on the Market? And is there the possiblity for a carreer of researching blueprints to improve them, and then reselling this "better quality" product?
There is more, but I think you get the point. In other games, I can usually search online for guides and tools, but I can't seem to find anything to answer my questions. And it's even more frustrating when I find a few suggestions of sites to visit, but they're either gone or SERIOUSLY out of date. I've even tried trolling the boards, but haven't had much luck. Hell, if I could at least find a guild that was willing to take a newbie, and that was into research/manufacturing, or even better intelligence/covert-ops kind of stuff that would at least give me someone to talk to.
I truly want to stay with this game past the 14-day's. I see so much here that I love. It seems to combine the best of Privateer, Freelancer, and Earth and Beyond, three games I have absolutely loved, but individually are all lacking in some way.
I just want to find out if I can play this game truly the way I would like to, play it successfully and with great enjoyment, or maybe realize that it really doesn't have what I want and move on.
Can anyone help?
